Product details

What do we associate most with Dragonflies? - grace and lightness of movement, delicate wings of faint fleeting colours, like turning an opal. The chromatic idiom is evident (the term 'chromatic' is derived from the Greek word for colour). We also think of dragonflies skimming about at a height usually above the plants and flowers of our gardens; often, in fact, shimmering against a blue sky. Consequently the pitch is mostly high, especially in the E flat major section, in which even the left hand is well above its usual territory. (Lean well to the right, or even sit a little more to the right than for the average piano piece.) The first beat rests for the left hand also enhance the general feeling of airiness.
