Entropic visions : [eScore] / Matthew Dewey.

I encourage an approach to this piece in performance that incorporates a spatial element. Perhaps the performer could appear from a balcony above the audience, or in a light, or from a window. The piece by nature is a transition, and therefore it is possible that it be used to bridge to a new section of a performance with a differing mood or aesthetic.
The piece itself is dedicated to the memory of Francois Hugo, a childhood friend of mine who died of a Methadone overdose in Zürich in 2008. There are 99 audible notes in this work, a testament to the obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) from which he suffered, and never overcame. He would count each syllable in sentences that people spoke to him. He would try to make sense of the world through counting, by constructing a false order in his mind that he ultimately knew he could not rely on.
