Commissioned by the Tétraflutes ensemble (Switzerland) for their show JikkenKôbô.ch, Estampes is based on a traditional Japanese melody "Kuroda bushi" (a samurai song) presented at the beginning of the piece to musically evokes prints by Utagawa Hiroshige I (1797 - 1858) and Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861).
