This work was inspired by the long solo piano improvisations of the American jazz pianist Keith Jarrett. While its free approach to form reflects this inspiration, the material itself relates more to neo-classic, neo-romantic and minimalist models than jazz.The work also unfolds towards the theme (taken from "Prayer" on the Death and the Flower album, although references to it are ubiquitous in the the work.
