The music in this piece is derived from Whispered Shadows, Anne's first "duo for one" shakuhachi piece completed in 2014. Both the violinist and the shakuhachi performer are required to sing while playing their instrument. It also includes two sections of spoken narration to be read by the shakuhachi player (or a dedicated narrator).
