Product details
Festival des roses, dedicated to St. Therese of Liseux, is a set of continuous variations on a recurring melodic pattern in the gamelan, combining the B Flat Major pentatonic harmony of the gamelan with Dorian Mode, Aeolian Mode, Japanese Kumoi and Pentatonic melodies in the brass. The continuously varying contrapuntal forms of the brass duo include canons, canons by augmentation and free counterpoint. The sonority of the brass is in enhanced by the harmonically ambiguous resonance of the gamelan, throughout the work, making its musical climaxes more powerful and intense.
