Product details

Solo piano. The album comprises twelve selections, and the pieces range in mood from the jazz-influenced 'Creative Control,' which was originally composed for the Browne-Haywood-Stevens trio, through the lyricism for which Stevens became known in that forum-represented here by the ballad 'Life at Greystanes' and the waltz 'Craft and Art'-to territories of great freedom in the six improvised movements (entitled 'Freehand' I-VI). This is a personal style of music-making that draws on a range of influences, but celebrates above all piano sound and the joy of improvisation.
