Digital Sheet Music [PDF]: ScoreHedgehog : for solo flute [eScore] / Rob Hao.by Rob Hao (2022)
|
Product details
Most recognisable for their spines, hedgehogs use these prickly adaptations to protect themselves from prey by curling up into a tight ball. And although they are not poisonous, their quills can still puncture and wound. Hedgehogs are nocturnal animals and have a peculiar habit of sticking their heads in cylindrical objects, which can also sometimes become stuck. They mostly communicate in grunts, squeals or snuffles. Hedgehogs are often accidentally killed by humans on the road or with various garden-related items or chemicals. This piece aims to capture these aspects of being a hedgehog.
The pitch material has been derived from a sequence of pentatonic sets which are presented above the various pedal notes (either long notes or the repeated note figuration), as well as other intervallic relationships in the lyrical material or certain shorter gestures.
