Sheet Music: Score & Part(s)Hercules Close stomp : for bassoon and piano / Ann Carr-Boydby Ann Carr-Boyd (2010)

Product details
The Hercules Close Stomp was composed in February 2010
for Sophia Rhee as part of her research into music for
bassoon.
The bassoon is one of the oldest instruments belonging to present
day ensembles. Its distinctive tone and wide compass, plus
attributes such as achieving wide leaps with ease, and
articulation ranging from mellifluous to wonderful staccato, lend
to its inclusion in music both traditional and contemporary.
The Hercules Close Stomp provided me with an opportunity
to write something in a lighter style that could be played by
people of any age. I included some of the scales and harmonies
that remind me of music by Gershwin and Weill. The piece should
be played with a light swing in the quaver passages. Performers
should feel free to add spontaneous ornamentation and variations.
Bars 25 to 36 should be taken at a slightly slower tempo - not
too much though !
