Product details
When writing this piece I was
interested in exploring how humour, joy, silliness and fun could
be conveyed through music. I played around with the use of: a
moderately fast tempo; exaggerated expression; frequent changes
in dynamics, tempo and metric pulse; staccato and pizzicato
articulation; and lots of ornamentation using slow and fast
glissandos, harmonics, grace notes, trills and variation in
vibrato. The piece is largely comprised of several different
variations on similar tonal motives. Humorous was originally
composed for cello duo and later arranged for viola and cello and
then bass violin and cello.
