Sheet Music: ScoreFourTune : for chamber ensemble / Anne Cawrse.by Anne Cawrse (2006)
|
Product details
FourTune was composed in collaboration with choreographer Paul Knobloch as part of the Australian Ballet's collaboration with the National Music Camp Composition program. It is a non-narrative driven, vibrant, lyrical and light-hearted exploration of different versions of 'four', and combines the choreographer's love of classical music and dance, with the composer's desire to focus on the percussive elements of the given ensemble.
Although originally composed as music for dance, FourTune's rhythmically decisive and 'easy listening' tonal/modal language makes it a vibrant and attractive work for the concert stage. The title comes from the cyclic theme of ascending and descending fourths, heard primarily in the woodwinds, which begin and end the work.
