Product details

This is what we do. In a time of crisis, Inventi stepped forward to create. We wanted to find ways to continue contributing to our cultural climate, to offer our colleagues work, and to bring amazing music to our supporters.

We aimed to record two albums in an unprecedented task over the course of three days, during a period between lockdowns, where we responsibly gathered Melbourne's finest musicians to bring music to life. It was joyful, it was challenging, and it was inspiring. We hope you hear all of these things in this album. It is filled with our passion for music and creativity.

We worked with the team at Monash University and were able to record in their beautiful Alexander Theatre. This gave us room to socially distance ourselves while recording, as well as enjoy the experience of recording in a performance space rather than a studio.

Commissioning new Australian works is a core part of our Inventi Ensemble ethos. We have worked with emerging, established and interdisciplinary composers and have run workshops where we have created music from graphic scores. These were written by members of the general public with no musical experience all in an effort to offer new pathways to music for composers, the wider community and listeners alike.

This album is extraordinary. It features four works by two of our favourite female composers, Melody Eötvös and Caerwen Martin. Each piece holds a special place in our hearts as they were composed with such dedication, trust and passion.
