Sheet Music: ScoreInvention for harpsichord sounds / Ron Nagorcka.by Ron Nagorcka (2007)
|
Product details
This piece is written for "harpsichord sounds" rather than harpsichord because it uses 31 tones in each octave instead of the usual 12 and a harpsichord simply cannot be tuned to play it. Instead the piece is played on a keyboard which controls a computer program that is tuned according to the composer's instructions. The tuning is the ancient system known as "just intonation" which Ron Nagorcka (along with an increasing number of composers) prefers to use whenever possible, as it is not only more accurately in tune, but provides a wealth of new and different harmonic resources.
