Rhythm is the manipulation of relative speeds of articulation within a constancy of pulse. It is not measured by lengths of sound as it is a pulse that continues beating, both obviously and tacitly throughout the various passages in the music. So, it is measured according to relative speeds of articulation of note values. This series of duo etudes aims to teach the fundamental principles as a discrete technique to enable players to apply it to their particular musical context.
