This piece borrows excerpts from Broadstock's own music, juxtaposed with quotations from Christian hymnody. Also embedded within this piece are quotations from the popular celebratory tune, Happy Birthday. Solo piano pieces quoted within this work include: The Dying of the Light (1996) and Torre di Forza (2003). A quotation of the opening piano ostinato figure from chamber piece, I touched your glistening tears… (2000) appears in the second half of the work. The brief quotations from the English hymn, 'Onward, Christian Soldiers', alludes to Broadstock's family association and history within the Salvation Army. The axis of the piece quotes a short horn solo passage from his Symphony No. 1.
