Magic carpets have been flying around in the human psyche for several centuries, emanating from Persian and Moorish lands. The plots of these mythologies often involve spell-bound magic carpets being at last unlocked, to bring the story an exotic touch of fantasy and wonder. In the late twentieth century, Disney brought the magic carpet to the global screen - animated in the legendary love story Aladdin.
This Magic Carpet has a strong Spanish flavour with hints of flamenco and Moorish idiom. It was composed with the intrigue and similar inspiration that I sourced when writing The Seduction of Andalucia (Wirripang 2020) |AMEB Syllabus Certificate of Performance.
