The Mass for Violin and Piano was composed as part of a series of concert works to complement the Colourstrings curriculum for violin. Having been performed by young performers, it found its way into the liturgy of Christ Church Cathedral on an occasion when storm damage had made use of the organ impossible. Having been well received it has been performed on several occasions, taking place of the choir in the Mass. The music of each movement reflects the appropriate text of the Mass. In HSC/VCE performance, students could choose one or more movements.
