Summary: In 2004, the members of the Pitjantjatjara Choir, formed in 1940, made the long journey from Ernabella community, 440km south-west of Alice springs, to perform at the Adelaide Festival. The choir took a central place in the Festival program, performing a selection of Christian hymns in Pitjantjatjara language at Adelaide Town Hall alongside the world premiere of Peter Sculthorpe's Requiem, a concert which Sculthorpe described as 'reconciliation in the concert hall'. This program captures a sense of the festivities and the journey back home in order to paint a picture of the revival of this 'national living treasure'.
