Night day sea is an evocative
exploration of the vibrancy and innocence
of youth set against thewisdom of
adulthood. The text by West Australian poet Roland Leach is alight with colour, calling
tomind imagery of children who "dance
their day" in "yellow and green",
contrasted with the "do-less greys"of
adulthood. This is reflected in the interplay between
the children's choir and the older voices
present in the work. Set alongside this
is an exploration of the imagery night vs
day. We begin the piece in the firstlight
of daybreak, as birds begin to awaken. The piece
travels through the tumultuous events of the day
andlands just as the sunset haze settles
into dusk.
