This commissioning school for Rain Chant is situated in a bushy area just outside Melbourne. Eltham was affected by the Black Saturday fires and students and families from the school living further out were affected also. This text does not reference fire as such but is about the connection with the land and the importance of rain. This is my second work focusing on rain, the other work, a slightly older and advanced piece, Aspects of Dreaming (SATB).
This work is suitable for high school or community choirs and involves an improvisation element based around given material which added to the 'chant' nature of this little piece.
