Resonance explores the process of a little note growing into the power of song, with lyrics by Resonants chorister Kirsten Duncan. The work celebrates the unifying and transformative power of song, showcasing the beauty and passion of a capella voices. Greenaway brings musical life and imagery to the Duncan's poem. Given the skill of this ensemble, Greenaway was able to explore more colourful composition tchniques such as clusters and featured moments for soloists.
A sound begins deep inside,
softly, shyly, sound emerges, whispering, wafting, set adrift.
Fragile ember floating on warm breath into the void...
Silence.
A note so intimate it carries the self into the unknown.
A spark, the embers combining, nurturing the passion to sing.
