Sheet Music: Performance PartsSe baila como eres I & II : two tangos for guitar and clarinet in B flat / Philip Bracanin.by Philip Bračanin (2013)

Product details
For these two tangos composed for clarinet and guitar, the title Se baila como eres (You dance who you are) seems an appropriate appellation for this Argentine dance typified by dance partners interpreting the music through movement in a highly personal manner. Miguel Zotto has aptly described this as follows. "In tango you can't be preoccupied with steps. You need to express your feelings while listening to the music". In scoring these two tangos for clarinet and guitar I have endeavoured to encapsulate the kind of fluid intimacy created between the tango dancers, through the musical dialogue interplayed by the two instruments. In design, Tangos I and II are a mirror image of each other - Tango I fast/slow/fast and tango II slow/ fast/ slow. I choose the clarinet to partner the guitar as in certain registers it reminds me vaguely of the timbre of the bandoneon, an instrument most commonly associated with the tango.
