Product details
The Sinfonietta is a single-movement work for string orchestra, composed for the Finale of the 2024 Newcastle Music Festival. The work consists of three main sections - a slow opening section gives way to a fast section in which the lower strings introduce a new melody, with violins imitating bells above them. The music builds to the work's main climax, settling to welcome a return of the work's opening melody, now in E major rather than E minor. This leads the music to an optimistic ending, with the last four notes of the first violins being a mirror of the opening melody of the piece.
