Product details
Sonata is dedicated to the memory of the Romanian-born pianist Clara Haskil, a greatly gifted artist from the earlier part of the twentieth century. One of the most distinctive qualities of the recordings Haskil made is a certain orchestral sonority, especially with her Beethoven. In the Sonata I seek to capture these qualities in addition to the spiritual world evoked by Haskil's music. Finally, the Sonata reflects a concern for structural compression that was influenced by late Beethoven; this influence seems appropriate given the close connection that Haskil evidently felt to that composer.
