Product details
Sounds from a Seashell for solo saxophone explores the different sounds that you hear when holding a seashell up to your ear.
It features a range of contemporary playing techniques in slow, atmospheric and rhythmic styles that imitate sea waves, wind and bird sounds: air sounds, key clicks, quarter-tones, multiphonics and colour trill effects.
Sounds from a Seashell received its premiere performance in Professor Eugene Rousseau's saxophone studio concert at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. This newly revised version (August 2024) is dedicated to Eugene Rousseau (1932-2024), who generously introduced my music to his students in the United States.
This piece can be played on any saxophone (soprano, alto, tenor or baritone). All instructions and fingerings for the saxophone extended techniques are clearly displayed on the score.
