Sheet Music: ScoreSpiral : for solo violin / Stephen Lalor.by Stephen Lalor (2011)
|
Product details
Spiral combines an almost Baroque sense of form and flow with some of the characteristic slides and decorations of American bluegrass & jazz violin styles. The lilting broken chords of the opening tumble in and out of each other, suggesting a melodic line which rises and falls into a contrasting middle section of dramatic arpeggiated down strokes. The tension of this section rises to a climax left hanging in the air, before reverting to a hushed recollection of the opening section. A few twists and turns and other surprises lead to final questioning phrases, before an emphatic final phrases built around an added tonic arpeggio (D6add9).
