Composed in response to the theme "Other Worldly," Stolen is a deeply personal reflection on the sorrow and spiritual disconnection experienced by the Stolen Generations in Australia. Through the ethereal textures of strings, the grounded resonance of piano, and the haunting clarity of the soprano voice, the piece evokes a space suspended between memory and silence - a space where children were taken, families were broken, and culture was forcibly severed. "Stolen" speaks to loss, but also to the strength and survival of First Nations peoples, honouring the spirit of those who continue to carry their stories forward.
