Sheet Music: ScoreTakeover : trumpet solo / Haydn Reeder.by Haydn Reeder (2018)
|
Product details
This piece has several types of pitch derivations and organizations packed into a short amount of time. Isorhythm, which involves rotation of the same pitches and rhythms, was found to be suitable for the first section, eventually giving way to a symmetrical chord which of course can only be presented melodically. The rhythms here are free. Inevitably these two types of music are in conflict as the 'melodic chord' takes over. Sometimes a wheeling structure intervenes, acting like a switch from one to the other.
Late in the piece the trumpeter is asked to emphasize the symmetry of the 'melodic chord' by moving in prescribed ways. At another point it is presented with the decoration of timbral trills.
Many thanks to Alan Holley and Harriet Cohen for including this piece in the project.
