Tarantism is a work commemorating the composer's Italian heritage. Moreover, it is inspired by Joe Chindamo's childhood memory of watching his father dance the tarantella. The work combines the rustic tradition of the tarantella with the sophisticated harmonic language of contemporary classical. The title itself, means, to cure melancholy by dancing.
