Starting with a very simple, chant and chorale-like opening, the work goes into a gently lilting allegro, almost pastoral; long open melodic lines interspersed with dance-like interwoven rhythmic passages. To cut a long story short, it goes into a full chorale section which segues, through a viola solo (a viola solo!.... gasp!) into the allegro again.

I had been listening to the music of the band Dva, (comprised of my close friends Linsey Pollak and Tunji Beir), and wanted to explore something of the open spaciousness of some of their work. Throw in a chorale section, which then could be a case of 'influence' from the age of the great ones, such as Heinrich Schutz, and the old JS himself, and their you have as 'meaningful' a listing of influences as I am capable. A play is worth a thousand words on 'influences'!
