The Waiting Game is a minimalist piece with the quartet working to create a web of sound. It starts out with an accented one-note motif which then transfers throughout the quartet until they form a unit slightly out of sync. The texture then becomes a bigger web with all different moving parts, eventually forming wave-like motions. The reprise of the one-note motif then expands to interchanging accents and another web of sound is created. This piece explores the colours of different cluster chords and creating intensity through texture and dynamics.
