Product details
This score explores the notion of how a score functions, or what a score 'is'. Improvisers are often the people who play my text scores. Playing a text score is very different from improvising though. I wanted to write something that was still recognisable as a score. But containing as little information as possible. For this piece, I imagined a spectrum with 'composed' at one end and "improvised" at the other... How close can we get to "improvised" but still recognise something as a score? This piece is my answer. Feedback from people who have performed it affirm that it feels like playing a text scores. Not improvising. Even though the only instruction is to improvise.
