Sheet Music: ScoreThree Pieces : for flute, clarinet and bassoon / Cyrus Meurant.by Cyrus Meurant (2012)
|
Product details
The Three Pieces for flute, clarinet
and bassoon were commissioned by Martin Lee for a New South Wales
regional tour of the Mitchell Conservatorium Musicians in
2012.
Each of the Three
Pieces focuses on a particular technical approach to
composition. The first piece - in a contrapuntal style - is a
kind of 'three-part invention,' with three musical ideas, simply
presented in an A-B-C-B-A form.
The
second piece explores a variety of rhythmic structures within
modular harmonic schemes (nine in all). The flute and clarinet
provide oscillating figures which are offset with alternating
rhythmic groupings from the bassoon.
The concluding piece resolves the set in a chorale-like
style.
