Product details

Tiger Snake evokes the experiences of an Australian Aboriginal woman around the time of Australian Federation in 1901. The text comes from a poem written by Aboriginal poet Lisa Bellear, who met with the composer to discuss aspects of Australian Federation and what it meant for Aboriginal people. It explores both the uplifting experience of connection to family and land, and the trauma of dispossession, disease and violence.
