Product details

Tunes stay with you for life. I have heard and played countless tunes in my career, some only once or twice. I can still recall most of them, and I know they influence my music‐making consciously or sub‐consciously. Tunes comprise melodic material that is manna for the composer or improviser who collect, adapts and hand on. This is my reason for collecting, arranging, composing and sharing the compilation Tuned In. It reflects my travels, friendships, collaborations and musings. Committed to a view of music as shared experience influenced and shaped by social and cultural values, I am a conduit for sharing what I have heard, what has been given, including my own tunes. While preparing this volume, I realised the importance of including some text for songs, because of the interdependence of words and music. Hence, I have included first verses, sometimes two or more, in some cases even complete songs, to do them justice.
