Sheet Music: Performance PartsTwo Pieces : for flute, cello and piano / Cyrus Meurant.by Cyrus Meurant (2002)

Product details
I composed the Two Pieces for flute, cello and piano in 2002 during my composition studies with Anne Boyd at the University of Sydney.
The first piece is a short meditation with each instrument exploring a limited set of pitch materials. The subsequent permutations of these elements form disparate and angular gestures.
The second piece takes a passacaglia-like approach. A descending harmonic scheme offers the basis for a constantly expanding and contracting rhythmic structure.
The trio gradually converges towards a point of density with the interweaving of lines from all the instruments, until the dynamic again subsides.
