Sheet Music: Performance PartsViews From Tropical North Queensland (Magnetic Reflections) / David Salisbury.by David Salisbury (2005)

Product details
This piece was written to demonstrate minimalism to my 20th century composition class whilst I was living in Tropical North Queensland lecturing at James Cook University. Although this is not strictly minimalism it uses minimalism concepts with the tuned percussion parts in particular playing repeated figures in an interlocking manner. The addition of the woodwinds adds a more melodic element to the composition. It is scored for Flute, Alto Saxophone, Marimba (grand staff - two players) Vibraphone, Marimba (treble staff), Xylophone and Glockenspiel. The title is inspired by Magnetic Island that was across Rowes Bay from my house and the fact that it reflected on the water in the bay.
