The composer notes the following styles, genres, influences, etc associated with this work:
Influences come from everywhere. It is hard to pinpoint. Melodic development is an essential part of my work. One of the lines in Mov. 3 reminds me a bit of Sibelius. The development is very different.
The composer notes:
Hiroyuki Iwaki and Sir Charles Mackerras were interested in this work. Nothing came of it. This work was composed in 1980, long before computers. In those days I used a 3B pencil. Recently Tobias Broeker asked to include this work in his catalogue of Violin Concertos. I rescued the pencil copy and notated it onto computer for this 2016 edition.
