Sheet Music: ScoreWaharoa : for oboe, bassoon and piano / Ben Hoadley.by Ben Hoadley (2018)

Product details
The title Waharoa refers to the place of that name in the Waikato region of New Zealand. I sometimes visit a grove of kahikatea trees there and the opening motif, heard throughout the piece, is based on a korimako (bellbird) call that I heard there in December 2016. While composing the piece, I received news of the death of our friend Steven Alward in Sydney, and the call of an Australian grey butcherbird is also heard at one point. Waharoa is scored for oboe, bassoon and piano and was written in Thames in January 2018.
