Product details
Wayfarers explores themes of adventure, yearning, and the mending of oneself and one's community after grief. The trio is inspired by Mary Hannay Foott's ballad Where the Pelican Builds, which recounts the story of two brothers who travel through Western Queensland in search of greener pastures, and never return. The three movements are each based on a stanza from the poem. With rollicking rhythms, "Venturing," anticipates the exciting journey ahead. "Opal-lit" evokes the beauty of wide, green pastures with no shortage of rain, and deep river waters. Finally, "Homeward" grapples with the tension of unresolved grief, and considers the healing and restoration to be found in community with others.
