Sheet Music: ScoreWhen the World Was Young : 'Sentimental' by Grainger for symphony orchestra / Percy Grainger, arr. David Stanhope.by David Stanhope and Percy Grainger (1910)

Product details
Grainger originally intended When the World Was Young to be his "Sentimental No.2", the first being Colonial Song. The manuscript is described as a "two-piano sketch", which suggests Grainger planned an instrumental version. This did not occur for probable reasons too lengthy to raise here, but Grainger made a home recording of the sketch several years later, clearly being pleased with it. I have made an orchestral version as it certainly is an attractive, tuneful work and a worthy successor to Colonial Song.
