Product details

Grainger originally intended When the World Was Young to be his "Sentimental No.2", the first being Colonial Song. The manuscript is described as a "two-piano sketch", which suggests Grainger planned an instrumental version. This did not occur for probable reasons too lengthy to raise here, but Grainger made a home recording of the sketch several years later, clearly being pleased with it. I have made an orchestral version as it certainly is an attractive, tuneful work and a worthy successor to Colonial Song.
