Words of Wisdom in its original form comprises of nine humorous vignettes and was composed for The Song Company. Since that time, there have been many performances of Words of Wisdom, which often include fragments of the whole work. This collection contains 4 of the 9 original pieces; Angry, Fine Wine, Unneccessary and Fool; and comes at the request of conductor Carl Crossin, Adelaide Chamber Singers. Chosen for their delightful truths, the songs shed light on some elements of the human condition: emotion, relationships, image and purpose. Although all the wise words contain truth, some of the wisdom is conventional and poignant whilst others are mere observations. Either way, the listener is advised to take heed!
Instrumentation: SSATTB voices/choir.
Duration: 7 min.
Contents note: I. Angry is easy / text by Aristotle -- II. Fine wine / text: unknown -- III. Unnecessary / text by Kaz Cooke -- IV. Fool / text from old Chinese proverb.
Commission note: Collection made at the request of conductor Carl Crossin, Adelaide Chamber Singers.
