Work Overview
Goodnight to Fraser Island is a companion piece to both
Goodnight to Beauty Point and Goodnight to
Hobart. All three pieces are atmospheric sunset works,
however Goodnight to Beauty Point is, at this stage,
scored only for solo piano.
The two trumpets are featured quite prominently here in this
work, but never achieve concerto status. My thoughts realised a
less conventional combination of instruments in a work composed
in Sonata-Fantasy form that recalls thoughts at night of the past
day. Fraser Island and Beauty Point are two of my favourite
locations.
