Library shelf no. 786.2/APC 3 [Available for loan]
Work Overview
I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell is a short piece for a solo piano with a small voice part for the pianist. It's a short burst of energy, slightly uncouth and complete with twists and turns.
The piece is basically an obsessive repetition and variation on a tune from Matchbox Twenty's 2003 song "Unwell" - specifically the first couple lines of the chorus: "I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell / I know right now you can't tell"
Using variations of this tune and its chord progression, this piece is subtly everchanging and unpredictable in its short visit to disparate genres - specifically boogie woogie and Christmas carols. After returning to the tune, the piece ends with a huge build up right to the very end!
