Work Overview
Designed for solo percussionist and dancer. This is a 'comprovisation', a partially composed (structured) score that allows for free play, extemporisation and embellishment on suggested pitches, motives and textures.

Year: 2006
Instrumentation: Percussion (vibraphone, marimba, bossed gongs, Ching (Korean bronze gong, or Chinese 'wind' gong or small tam tam if unavailable), 26" Zildjian splash cymbal on stand, 2 sets of LP bongos, 1 set of roto toms, bass drum, 2 sets of leg rattles. Dancer also performs.
Duration: 12 min.
Commission note: 'Jiriyai!' means war cry in the Sydney language. It is dedicated to Pemulwuy, who led a resistance movement against invading Europeans
