Ten Meditations for the Piano for Lent and Easter / David Banney.
Library shelf no. 786.2/BAN 1 [Available for loan]
Work Overview
The Ten Meditations were written in 2020 to be played during the liturgy at St Johns Anglican Church, Newcastle, with one piece for each Sunday of Lent, and then several pieces for Holy Week, culminating in a final piece for Easter Day. However, within three weeks of the beginning of this process the COVID-19 pandemic put an end to public church services in Australia, and the remaining pieces could only be performed online. Each piece is a musical response to a text by Naomi Johnson - haikus for the Lenten pieces, and short, highly evocative pieces for Holy Week and for the Resurrection.
