Work Overview
The work is dedicated to the flautist Gillian Rankine whose musicianship and artistry I have admired over many years. Gillian introduced me to the baroque flute which has a beauty and warmth of tone as well as a wide range of pitch...these were influences which inspired 'Song for Baroque Flute'. I see this work as a companion piece to my recently completed 'A Fond Caress', for solo baroque flute.
