Rhapsody For All Seasons (string orchestra with solo instrument(s))

by Nicholas Buc (2014)

Work Overview

Rhapsody For All Seasons was conceived as an entertaining combination of the essences of Vivaldi and Piazzolla with a modern and popular twist. Written for string orchestra and featuring a virtuosic part for solo violin, the piece takes the listener on a whirlwind ride of seasonal variety. There's a dangerous tango, a sensuous film-noir passage mixed with melancholic longing, a groovy boogie-woogie, and a bluesy swing section that splits into 12 parts. And keep a look out for the foot stamps...
