Work Overview
In 1918, Debussy died leaving his final project of 6 sonatas only half complete. Three sonatas were finished, but of the remaining three there were no sketches, only a detailed specification of the 13 instruments. As part of the Debussy100 Project for the Centenary, the Australian National Academy of Music commissioned Lyle Chan to write the three remaining sonatas, adopting Debussy's intended instrumentation. This is the 5th - for trumpet, clarinet, bassoon and piano.
