Work Overview
"Soliloquy" was written for Paul Nash who commissioned the work in 2004. It was originally meant to be on a theme related to "Amnesty International" and was played at a special benefit lunch that Paul holds each year. Although I did not conceive it as directly representing anything to do with "amnesty" it does have a little of the idea, "thoughts one has when alone" and the concept of "solitude". This is sometimes reflected in the music as extreme calm and at other times as sarcasm tempered by nostalgia.
